Chinese Language is one of the oldest languages in the world. It can be traced back over 3,000 years to the first written records. The Chinese characters are the only pictorial written form in modern use i.e. each character is evolved from an image. And it is also one of the very few tonal languages, i.e. the same words with different tones have completely different meanings.

However it is not as difficult as you think!

Nearly 1.2 billion people (16% of the world’s population) speak Chinese as their first language. China is now the second largest economy in the world.

We do not have plural forms! (1 apple, 2 apple, ….1000 apple)

We only have one syllable for one word.

We do not have masculine and feminine forms like Lithuanian.

We use the same form of verbs for everyone (I eat, she eat, we eat).

We do not change the verb for tenses (Today I go, tomorrow I go).

Our number system is quite simple, and we use them for the months and days of the week (January:1 month, February: 2 month;
Monday: Weekday 1, Tuesday: Weekday 2).
